Retrofits
Adding a Battery to a System You Already Have
A battery only earns its keep on the solar you are currently giving away. Before we quote a retrofit we go through your generation and export data, because a household that is home all day and already uses most of what it makes has far less to store than one that sits empty until six.
The inverter decides how the battery connects, not the panels. A hybrid inverter takes a battery directly. A standard string inverter takes an AC-coupled battery beside it, or we replace the inverter with a hybrid unit if it is near the end of its life anyway. Either way the array stays where it is.

Government Rebate
The Federal Battery Rebate
Since 1 July 2025 the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program has discounted the cost of an eligible home battery. It runs on small-scale technology certificates, the same mechanism behind the long-standing solar panel rebate. The certificates are created when the battery is installed and their value comes off the invoice, so there is nothing to claim back afterwards.
The discount scales with the usable capacity of the battery and moves with the certificate market, so there is no flat figure to quote. The calculator further down this page gives you an estimate, and we confirm the exact amount in your written quote before anything is ordered.

How much does a home battery cost in South Australia?
It depends on the brand, the usable capacity and whether your existing inverter can take a battery, so we quote each job rather than publish a figure. How long does a solar battery last?
Modern lithium batteries are warrantied for 10 years and typically last 15 or more years. Most carry a warranty guaranteeing at least 70% capacity retention after 10 years or 10,000 cycles.
