Home and commercial electric vehicle charger installation by licensed electricians.
Why Choose Us
Here's what sets our service apart.
About This Service
As electric vehicles become increasingly popular across Australia, having a dedicated home charger is the most convenient and cost-effective way to keep your EV charged and ready to go. ElectricalPro installs Level 2 EV chargers for homes and businesses across Murray Bridge and the Adelaide Hills, bringing the same expertise and attention to detail that has defined our electrical services since 2003. With over 20 years of experience in residential and commercial electrical installations, we understand the critical importance of getting EV charger installations right — from ensuring your switchboard can handle the additional load, to positioning the charger for convenient cable reach to your vehicle, to configuring smart charging schedules that minimise your electricity costs. South Australia is seeing rapid EV adoption, and our team stays current with the latest charger technology, installation standards and electricity tariff structures to ensure every installation delivers the best possible charging experience.
What We Offer
A dedicated Level 2 charger is dramatically faster than a standard power point — a 7kW single-phase charger completes a full charge overnight in 8 to 10 hours, while a 22kW three-phase charger can do it in just 3 to 4 hours. Compare that to 30–40 hours from a regular outlet and the upgrade pays for itself in convenience alone.
Pair your EV charger with rooftop solar to charge using free excess generation. Smart chargers like the Zappi automatically detect surplus solar production and divert it to your vehicle — no manual intervention required. With SA electricity exceeding 45 cents per kWh, solar charging can save you $15–$20 per charge.
We configure time-of-use charging that charges your vehicle during off-peak overnight periods when electricity rates drop to around 20 cents per kilowatt-hour. Smart charger app setup lets you monitor and schedule every charging session from your phone.
We install load management that coordinates your EV charger with other high-draw appliances like air conditioning and hot water, preventing switchboard overloads. This ensures your home's electrical system operates within safe limits at all times.
For single-phase homes we install 7kW chargers that maximise available capacity. Properties with three-phase supply can support faster 11kW or 22kW units. We install Tesla Wall Connector, Zappi, Wallbox, ABB and OCPP-compatible chargers.
A 7kW charger draws around 32 amps — a significant load on older switchboards. We assess your switchboard capacity as part of every quote and include any necessary electrical upgrades in the price so you deal with one tradesperson and one project.
How It Works
From initial contact to completed job, here's what to expect.
We inspect your switchboard capacity, supply type (single or three-phase), and available circuit space. We assess the distance from your switchboard to your preferred charger location and identify any electrical upgrades required to safely support EV charging.
Based on your vehicle, supply capacity, solar system (if applicable) and charging habits, we recommend the ideal charger. We explain the differences between basic and smart chargers, discuss solar integration options, and provide a complete installed price.
Our licensed electricians install the dedicated circuit from your switchboard, mount the charger unit in your chosen location, upgrade your switchboard if needed, and install appropriate RCD protection. All work complies with AS/NZS 3000 and SA Power Networks requirements.
We power up your charger, test it with your vehicle, configure the app and WiFi connectivity, set up solar diversion or off-peak charging schedules, and walk you through how to monitor your charging sessions and energy usage.
Common Questions
A typical home EV charger installation costs between $1,500-$3,000 including the charger unit, dedicated circuit and installation. The final cost depends on the charger selected, distance from your switchboard, and whether any electrical upgrades are needed.
Technically yes, but it's very slow (8-12 hours for a partial charge) and can strain older wiring. A dedicated Level 2 charger is much faster, safer, and recommended by all EV manufacturers. It's the single best upgrade for any EV owner.
Absolutely — and we recommend it. By charging during the day when your solar panels are producing, you can effectively run your car on free energy. We can install smart chargers that automatically use excess solar production.
It depends on your current switchboard capacity. A 7kW charger draws around 32 amps, which is a significant load. We'll assess your switchboard as part of the quote process and include any necessary upgrades in the price.
Local Knowledge
South Australia has one of the fastest-growing EV markets in Australia, driven by the state government's Electric Vehicle Action Plan and the removal of stamp duty on new EVs. The high cost of SA electricity — often exceeding 45 cents per kWh on peak tariffs — makes solar-integrated EV charging particularly attractive in the Murray Bridge and Adelaide Hills region, where excellent solar irradiance can offset virtually all charging costs. Many older homes in the area have single-phase 63-amp supply which limits charger capacity to 7kW without a supply upgrade. Properties with three-phase power can support faster 11kW or 22kW chargers. SA Power Networks requires notification for EV charger installations above certain thresholds, and ElectricalPro handles all regulatory requirements as part of our service.
