Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
This policy explains what ElectricalPro does with the personal information you give us through this website. We handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. Who We Are
This website is run by Electrical Pro Services Pty Ltd (ABN 57 667 696 095), trading as ElectricalPro. We are a licensed electrical and solar contractor at 26 Day Ct, Murray Bridge SA 5253, working across the Murraylands and the Adelaide Hills.
Most Australian small businesses turning over less than $3 million a year are exempt from the Privacy Act. We have chosen not to rely on that exemption. We handle your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles anyway, because you should be able to see exactly what happens to your details before you hand them over.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you:
- Submit an enquiry through our contact form
- Request a quote for our services
- Phone or email us directly
The types of personal information we may collect include:
- Your name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Your message or enquiry details
- The type of service you are enquiring about
- Your address or suburb, if it is relevant to the work
When you send the contact form we also record the IP address of the device it was sent from, and the page you sent it from. The IP address is stored with your enquiry. We keep it so we can trace spam and abuse, and we do not use it for anything else.
We do not collect sensitive information such as financial details, health information, or government identifiers through this website.
3. What Happens to Your Enquiry
When you send the contact form, four things happen:
- The enquiry is emailed to pete@electricalpro.com.au.
- A copy is saved as a record inside this website's own database, so a mail outage can never lose your enquiry. That record holds everything you typed, the date and time, and the IP address the form came from.
- If you gave us an email address, we send you a short acknowledgement so you know it arrived.
- The plugin that sends our mail, FluentSMTP, writes a copy of the full message to its own log. That log is cleared automatically after 14 days.
The records inside the website can be read only by ElectricalPro staff and by the person who maintains the site for us.
4. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep enquiry records for 24 months from the last time you contacted us. After that we delete them, or strip out the parts that identify you.
Two things sit outside that rule. The 14 day mail log described above clears itself sooner. And where the law requires us to keep a record for longer, for example tax records or the paperwork behind a Certificate of Compliance for electrical work, we keep that record for as long as the law requires.
If you would like your enquiry deleted before the 24 months are up, ask us and we will do it, unless we are required to keep it.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information we collect to:
- Respond to your enquiries and requests
- Provide quotes for electrical and solar services
- Deliver the services you have engaged us for
- Communicate with you about your project or booking
- Meet our record keeping obligations for electrical work
- Improve our website and customer experience
We will not use your personal information for direct marketing unless you have given us your consent. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by contacting us.
6. Third-Party Services
These are the outside services involved in running this website and in getting your enquiry to us.
Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
We use Google Analytics to see how people find and use the site. It is loaded through Google Tag Manager, and two Google containers run on every page: GTM-PNNBTSVS and GT-TX27F2N.
Google Analytics collects de-identified information: which pages were opened, how long the visit lasted, roughly where the visit came from (city level, worked out from your IP address), and a random client ID that lets Google tell one browser from another on a return visit. It does not include your name, phone number, email address, or anything you type into the contact form. We cannot use it to work out who you are. We say de-identified rather than anonymous because that client ID and the city-level location are still more than nothing.
We also send one event to Google Analytics when a contact form is submitted successfully, so we can see how many enquiries the site produces. That event carries the page the form was sent from and the service that was picked. It carries no name and no contact details.
Cloudflare
This website is served through Cloudflare's network, which sits in front of our host. Cloudflare handles technical data such as your IP address, your browser type and the pages you request, in order to block attacks and to make the site load faster.
Cloudflare Turnstile
Our contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile works out whether a form submission is coming from a person or from a bot. When the form loads, it runs a check inside your browser and sends signals about your browser, your device and your IP address to Cloudflare, which sends back a pass or a fail. It also sets its own cookie so it does not have to repeat a check it has already done. Turnstile does not see what you type into the form.
Mailgun
The emails this site sends, both the enquiry notification to us and the acknowledgement to you, are delivered through Mailgun. The text of your enquiry passes through Mailgun's European servers on its way to our inbox, and Mailgun keeps its own short-term delivery logs.
Google Workspace
Our email runs on Google Workspace. Once your enquiry arrives it sits in a Google mailbox, like every other email we receive.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
7. Cookies
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. This site uses these:
- Analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager, which count visits and page views.
- ep_lead: our own cookie, set only at the moment you submit the contact form. It lasts 15 minutes, is deleted the first time it is read, and holds two things: the path of the page you submitted from, and the service you picked from the dropdown. It holds no personal information at all. It exists so the enquiry can be counted as a conversion in Google Analytics.
- Cloudflare cookies, including __cf_bm, used to tell people from bots and to keep the site available.
- A Cloudflare Turnstile cookie, set when the check on the contact form runs.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you contacting us, but parts of the site may not behave as expected.
8. Information Sent Overseas
The website and its database are hosted in Australia. Some of the services above are run by overseas companies, so parts of your information are handled outside Australia:
- Google (United States) runs Analytics, Tag Manager and our Workspace email. Usage data goes to Google, and your enquiry email lands in a Google mailbox.
- Cloudflare (United States) serves the site and runs Turnstile, so it handles your IP address and your browser details.
- Mailgun (a United States company, using its European servers) delivers our email, so the text of your enquiry passes through it.
We take reasonable steps to use services that handle information properly. Once information is held overseas it is also subject to the laws of the country it is held in, which we cannot control.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. These measures include:
- Serving our website over HTTPS (encrypted connection)
- Using Cloudflare security features including DDoS protection and a web application firewall
- Screening contact form submissions with Cloudflare Turnstile
- Limiting access to personal information to authorised personnel only
- Deleting enquiry records once we no longer need them
- Regularly reviewing our data handling practices
While we take all reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
10. Your Rights Under the Australian Privacy Act
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of any inaccurate, out-of-date or incomplete information
- Ask what we hold, where it is stored, and who else has seen it
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal obligation we have to retain it
- Withdraw consent for any marketing communications
- Make a complaint if you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. There is no charge. We will respond within 30 days. If we cannot do what you have asked, we will tell you why in writing.
11. Making a Complaint
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us first. Email pete@electricalpro.com.au or call 0438 840 121 and say that you are making a privacy complaint.
We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and give you a written answer within 30 days. That answer will set out what we found and what, if anything, we are changing.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, or we do not respond in time, you can take the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the independent privacy regulator for Australia. You can reach the OAIC at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Any update is posted on this page with a revised last-updated date.
